Marion Carter Strange, widow of Weldon Strange, died in Taos, New Mexico Saturday, January 2, 2010, at the age of 86. She was a resident of Beaumont for more than fifty years before moving to Taos in 2006. Marion was a member of McCabe Roberts Avenue United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of Lilly and Ross Carter. Marion had two brothers, Allen, who was killed in World War II and Edward, who died in New Orleans in 1978. She was the last of a generation on her side as well as her husbands side of the family. Marion was fun, smart, funny, loving and loved. She will be greatly missed by her children, Sandra Hamilton and her partner, Susan Walker, Allen Strange and Susan Utley and her husband Geoffrey. Also by her grandchildren, John Allen Hamilton and his wife Keoudorn, Andrew Strange, Cody Strange and his wife Kelly, Meredith Davidson, and Carter Utley; and her great grandchildren, Oscar, Shamus and Liam Hamilton and Forrest Johnston. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, at Broussards, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Broussards. Memorial contributions may be made to McCabe Roberts Avenue United Methodist Church, 1205 Roberts Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
