Marlin Thommes passed away March 24 at 9:30 pm surrounded by her family and a few close friends. A long-time Taos resident, she was well-known to many in the county not just for installing their mechanical systems and taking care of their plumbing but by her boundless guidance about how the system worked, sometimes more than they wanted to know. Marlin helped Bob Draper grow Phoenix Mechanical until she moved to Boulder Colorado in 1997 for a few years to help shepherd her partner's son through adolescence. Work and softball were her first loves. She and her partner moved back to Taos in 2003 after finishing her house in Des Montes and she finally fulfilled her dream by starting Ms. Mechanical. Scheduling made her crazy because she was constantly offering her efforts and expertise to all our plumbing emergencies. Marlin was a graduate of the U of C Berkeley, a world-class softball player, a fine skier and horsewoman, and could always find the hiding places of trout in quiet pools along the Rio Hondo and the Rio Grande. Memories and reminiscences from countless friends, relatives, and clients whose lives she touched flooded in during her illness to let her know how much she had inspired them or how often she'd made them laugh. She leaves, among the many in and around Taos who know her as Littlefish, her brother Jim Thommes and his wife Danielle of San Diego, their two adult children Michelle and Craig, her partner Carol Terry and son, Andy along with all her teammates at work and at play. Thank you Marlin for all your hard work. You will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to Mtn Home Health Care Hospice , P. O. Box 2566, Taos, NM 87571
A service and feast to remember and celebrate her life was held at Marlin's home in Des Montes on March 29. 2008.
