Martha Vargas

Martha Vargas, 83, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on April 24, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Vargas in 2001, infant son, Donald, infant grandson, Arturo Lauro Vargas and infant great grandson, Jonathan Montoya. Martha and her husband, Robert operated Vargas Paint & Tile from 1961 until 1981, since then, their daughters have operated the business. During WWII, Martha was a welder in the ship yards of San Francisco, CA, a real "Rosie the Riveter". She is survived by her children, Arthur E. Vargas of Las Vegas, Christine A. Vargas, Patricia C. Vargas and Viviana Vargas-Gonzales (Raymond) all of Ranchos de Taos. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and brother, Joe LaCombe (Laura) of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the New Llano Quemado Cemetery.
