Mary Alcarita Sanchez, age 82 passed away at her home in Chamisal, NM on Friday morning August 18, 2017. Mary 'Alcarita' was born on August 22, 1934 to Juanita Garcia in Chamisal, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Benito Sanchez, son Benito Sanchez Jr., daughter Benita Sanchez, her mother, Juanita Garcia, brother Aurelio Garcia, special Aunt Anastacia Garcia and Uncle Frutoso Garcia, great-granddaughter Breandra Pena, sister-in-laws: Lydia Rivera and her husband Lalo Rivera, Josie Lujan and her husband Ben Lujan; brothers-in-law Alfonso Ulibarri, Gilbert Sanchez and Isidro Sanchez and many other Aunts, Uncles, and cousins, including her special cousin Rudolfo Romero who recently passed. She is survived by her daughters, Becky Fernandez (Boyd Barela); Eutimia Visarraga (Wayne); Victoria Sanchez (Rowdy Torres); sons Arturo Sanchez, Rudy Sanchez, Federico Sanchez (Marylou), brother Max Garcia (Sandy), sisters-in-law, Rita Sanchez, Bertha Ulibarri, Stella Sanchez and Celina Sanchez; brother-in-law James Sanchez (Maria Theresa), granddaughters, Melissa Romero, Edwardine Fernandez (like a daughter), Matilda Fernandez, Athena Sanchez (Lorenzo Garcia); Amanda Sanchez, Chenoa Sanchez, Keioma Visarraga (Cody Sandoval); Anja Sanchez. Grandsons Louis Fernandez (Leslie); Alex Visarraga (Desiree); Christopher Visarraga (Alicia McCaulley); Amadeus Sanchez and 15 great grandchildren many other relatives Please forgive if anyone was left out, this is without intention. Mary loved God and lived her life accordingly. She was a devout Catholic and devoted over 50 years teaching religious education in her community. She loved her family and friends. She will be missed by many! A Rosary will be prayed this Sunday, August 20 2017, 7pm at Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola, NM. On Monday, August 21, 2017 Mary Alcarita Sanchez will be taken to Penasco where visitation will begin at 5:30pm at the church of San Antonio Pauda Catholic Church followed by a Rosary that will be prayed at 7pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 22 2017 at 11am at San Antonio De Pauda Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chamisal Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Louis Fernandez, Jacob Visarraga, Edwardine Fernandez, Demetrius Fernandez, Matilda Fernandez, Keioma Visarraga, Danny Fernandez and Donovan Fernandez. Honorary Pallbearers are, Max Garcia and Rique' Fernandez.
