MARYANN MARTINEZ, a life-long resident of Taos, NM, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 6, 2010. MaryAnn was born to Clarence Francis Jack and Fay M. Boyer on March 24, 1957. MaryAnn attended and graduated from the Taos Municipal Schools. She married the love of her life, Tony J. Martinez on July 19, 1975. Together they lovingly brought into this world, two sons, Richard and Mark and later were blessed to also bestow their love to a daughter, Antonia. MaryAnn made her dreams of becoming a nurse a reality when she received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. MaryAnn loved her profession, dedicating her skills and compassion to her patients at Holy Cross Hospital. She unselfishly gave to her community by offering her talents to several civic organizations, among them, the Jaycees, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and volunteering with the March of Dimes and Relay for Life. She was a member and an ordained Elder of the Ranchos de Taos Presbyterian Church. MaryAnn was a loving and giving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. It came naturally to MaryAnn to always think of others before herself. She will always remain in the midst of her family. According to John 14:2-3, In my Fathers house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go and prepare a place for you? And If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. MaryAnn believed that our Lord would prepare a place for her in his mansion. The Lord has now fulfilled that promise. MaryAnn is preceded in death by her father, Clarence Francis Boyer, sister, Alvera Boyer, nephew, Nestor E. Martinez Jr., and father and mother-in-law Bonifacio and Felis Martinez. She is survived by her husband of thirty five years, Tony J. Martinez; her children, Richard Martinez (Cindy), Mark Martinez (Misty) and Antonia Martinez-Sholar (Robert); grandchildren, Haley Fay Martinez, Marcos Martinez, Leila Sholar and Justice Gurule, her mother, Fay M. Wells, brothers, George Boyer (Carol), Clarence Dickie Boyer; sisters, Sadie F. Boyer, Lilly B. Martinez (Albino) and Lisa Boyer; godson, Francisco Boyer, aunt Eva Martinez, her sisters-in-law, Judy Coca and Mary Bowen (Doug) and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. May she rest in peace.
