Mary B. Baca, age 82, resident of Santa Fe, NM, passed away on September 8, 2019 due to a lengthy illness. She was born on May 7, 1937 in Las Vegas, NM to Rebecca Valdez and Baudilio Baca Sr., who precede her in death, as do her brothers, Leroy Baca, Mike Valdez, and Lonnie Valdez; her granddaughter, Sarah Armijo; and her great-grandson, Francisco Payne.
She is survived by her sons, Candido Armijo (Bernadette), Steve Armijo (Yvonne), and Richard Armijo; daughters Darline Corriz (Frank) and Linda Armijo; aunt (considered a sister), Neva Montoya (Bob); brothers Leocadio Baca Jr., Delfido Baca (Lucy), Baudilio Baca Jr., and Anthony Baca (Angela); sisters Gloria Martinez, Frances Leyba, Lydia Talache, Dolores Gonzales, Martha Apodaca, Florence Sena (Ray), Donna Baca, Lucille Romero (Ray), Josephine Baca, and Ruby Baca-Schuerger; cousin (considered a sister) Beatrice Swift; granddaughters Nanette Armijo, Clarissa Rivera, Candace Armijo (Evan), Amanda Garcia (Charlie), Juliet Baca (Fernando), Cassandra Armijo (Erin), Sarah Armijo (deceased); and grandsons David Armijo (Sonya), Daniel Armijo, Michael Armijo, Adam Armijo (Natalia), James Payne, Jeremy Payne (Jennifer), Joshua Payne, Christopher Armijo, Jonathan Armijo, and Richard Armijo Jr, along with many other relatives and friends.
The loves of Mary’s life were first and foremost her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and then her children and grandchildren.
Mary’s career began as a Nurse’s Aide working for St. Vincent Hospital for many years when the hospital was downtown. She retired from there and continued working as a Visiting Nurse with the Visiting Nurses Santa Fe. Lastly, she worked for the Santa Fe Public Schools in the Foster Grandparents Program until she got ill.
Mary’s hobbies included fishing, needlepoint, crocheting, reading, bowling, dancing, and watching her Spanish novellas.
Mary’s faith kept her strong to the end. She had given her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him as a Missionary to Mexico, making several trips to take bibles and clothes to orphanages and churches.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Kiva Chapel of Light located at 417 E Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505 with burial to follow at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens.
Reception will be following the Service and Burial at the F.O.P. in Santa Fe, NM.
