Mary Bernice Cardenas

Mary Bernice Cardenas, 56, of Cerro, NM passed away at home surrounded by her family on May 8, 2016. Bernice was employed with the US Postal Service for 24 years, 16 of those years she worked at the Ranchos de Taos Post Office where she made many friends. Bernice was extremely kind hearted and loving and she cherished her family especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Della Gomez, brother, Sammy Gomez Jr., infant brother, Johnny Gomez, grandparents, Fred and Elvira Gomez and Enrique Vigil and Filomena Gallegos. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ronnie Cardenas, daughters, Samantha Martinez (Gary), Angel Martinez (Jason) and Kristen Torres (Brian), brothers, Robert Gomez (Marcie), Norbert Gomez (Rhonda), grandchildren, Jacob, Jerome, Jude, Jason Jr. and Joaquin Martinez, Abriana and Kaliyah Torres and Lylah Gomez, several Godchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Rosaries were recited on May 11, 2016 at Rivera Chapel in Taos. Second rosary was recited on May 12, 2016. Funeral mass was held on May 13, 2016. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cerro. Interment followed at the Cerro Cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home.
