Mary Ellen Bradley died on May 3rd, 2013 at 12:00 am at the age of 79. Mary Ellen was born on April 5th, 1934 in Athens, Texas to Cecil Omar Martin and Lovedy May. Mary Ellen graduated from Athens High School. In 1952, she married Leo Dow Bradley and moved to Beaumont, Texas. She earned 2 degrees from Lamar University in education. Over the years, she taught second grade in Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Houston and Dallas, Texas school districts. Upon her husband and her retirement, they relocated to Taos, New Mexico and built a home. She went to work, at no charge, for her son-in-law helping in the office. She and her husband dedicated their last years to helping their children and grandchildren realize their dreams.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo Bradley, her youngest daughter, Ellen Ruth Dyke, and her sister, Jessie Martin. Survivors include her two daughters, Dowann Oskins of Taos, New Mexico and Gladys May Shelley of Dallas, Texas; and her son, John Martin Bradley of Corpus Christi, Texas. She has four grandchildren: Jacqueline, Michael, John Dell (JD), and Veronica and one great-grandchild: Drake.
A memorial service was held on May 9, 2013 at Taos Valley Baptist Church in Taos, NM. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
