Mary Louise Harvey, 84 years of age, passed away on October 26th at the Taos Living Center.
Mary was born on May 11, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She moved to Taos in 1969 and throughout her yeas here made many close friends. Who became family.
She loved to travel and fondly remembered her trips to Spain and Italy. She visited Hawaii and New York with her dear friend, R.C. Gorman. On one highly memorable trip to the Caribbean with Marcia Vargas and Gayle and Elven Harvey, delays for their late flight to Atlanta led to a spontaneous chorus of Midnight train to Georgia as they waited together.
Mary also loved operas and spent hours enjoying them. She was an avid reader who relied on her extensive library of books on tape in her later years. Mary was known for her vivacious personality and outgoing and curious nature. She enjoyed spending time with friends. Which always included tons of laughter and fun. Mary liked a great party and hosted many fun gatherings small and large.
She leaves behind Marcia Vargas, James Heese, Pauline Martinez, Vera Trujillo Landon, as well as the Moya, Gordon, and Martinez families to cherish memories of an amazing woman who led a full life that was well lived. She will also be sorely missed by her adopted family, Elven and Gayle Harvey and there daughters Heather, holly, and Daphne, as well as many friends throughout Taos. She should be remembered as a vibrant person who was unabashedly, unreservedly and unapologetically herself. Her kindness, love, and willingness to share of herself will be sorely missed. Special thanks goes to Dr. Ellen Warren and Taos Living Center for the special care they provided her.
A memorial to celebrate her life will be held in the Spring.
