Mary Pacheco

1924 — June 9, 2019

Mary A. Pacheco Age 94, of Taos, NM, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 9, 2019. She is the beloved wife of the late Tim T. Pacheco and the daughter of the late Pedro and Bersabe Baca. She is preceded in death by her brother, Juan A. Gomez, sister, Judith “Judy” E. Baca and sister, Beatrice M. Sanchez. She is survived by her children, Andrew “Andy” Pacheco and Yvonne (Pacheco) Marsh, as well as her brother, Dan Baca (Margaret) and sister, Alice Oglesby (Charles). She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Lisa Pacheco (Billy), Steven Pacheco (Shanna), Tim Pacheco (Erin) and Jessica Montoya (Dominic). She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, Talon, Taryn, Taylor, Trysten, Nicholas, Dominic Jr. and Amaya. She is survived by many other relatives and friends. Mary was the Office Manager for Farmers Home Administration (FmHA) for thirty-six and one-half years in Taos, NM. After retiring from FmHA in 1980, Mary began volunteering for various museums in Taos, NM, which included the Kit Carson Home and Museum, the E.L. Blumenschein Home and Museum and the Martinez Hacienda. Also, during this time, Mary and her beloved Tim spent many happy years together until his passing in 1988. Mary then dedicated her time as a volunteer with the Taos Public Library, where she spent numerous hours at the library’s old location on Ledoux Street, tutoring young children how to read. Once the library moved to its present-day location, Mary accepted the responsibility of re-organizing and categorizing the vertical files, a task in which she took immense pride. What she enjoyed most, quite simply, was being at home, working in her garden and devoting her time to her beloved family. Apart from this, her devotion centered on one other central presence: her constant faith. There was a profound sense of peace, comfort and strength that Mary gathered from her faith, especially from her beloved Sacred Heart of Jesus and our Blessed Virgin Mother. Her unfailing faith never wavered, and it was this faith that brought her peacefully home to her loving Savior, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos, NM. Interment will be held at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home, Taos.
