Matias Martinez

Matias S. Martinez age 92 passed away January 14, 2016. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII and worked 25 years at the New Mexico School for the Deaf. Matias, a talented man instrumentally, performed for many church masses. Matias is preceded in death by his wife Agrepina Martinez, his son James Robert Martinez and sister Sidelia Griego. He is survived by his son Jose “AB” Martinez (Mary Jane) and daughter Anna Trujillo(Leonard), grandchildren Nick Martinez(Frances) and Victoria Martinez, and great-grandchildren Alicia Romero, Santiago Romero, Jasmine Martinez, Pablo Chavez, Leandra Chavez, Nicolette Martinez and Lynette Martinez. Sister Frances DeHaven, Niece Dolores Miera, Nephews Bonnie Griego, Michael Griego, Roy DeHaven, Harry DeHaven and Jeffery DeHaven. Pallbearers Nick Martinez, Santiago Romero, Angelo Ortega, Michael Griego, Kevin Grirgo and Eric Ulibarri. Honorary Pallbearers Pablo Chavez and Leandra Chavez. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 7:00 p.m. at the Kiva Chapel of Light, 417 East Rodeo Rd., Santa Fe, NM. A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, January 21, 2016, 12:00 p.m.at Our Lady of Guadalupe followed by interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
