Dr. Matthew Harrison, age 52, passed away on February 21, 2014. He lived
courageously with cancer until peacefully leaving to be with the Lord. Matthew was born in Rochester, MN and previously lived in Duluth, MN. He worked as physical and sports medicine doctor for Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, NM. He is survived by his wife, Beckett Berning, his three young children, Lucas, Eleanor and Greta; sisters Dianne Wentzel (Brad) and Rebecca Harrison, brothers Brian (Nancy),Mark (Debbie), Brad (Julie), loving nieces and nephews, numerous close friends and loyal dog Oliver. He is preceded in death by his brother David (Mary Schnell) and his parents Dr. Edgar Harrison and Rita (nee Delaney). Matthew was passionate about living life to the fullest. He loved long distance running, nordic ski racing, hiking and bike riding. He rode his bike to work everyday. He became a doctor to promote healthy living through a strong mind, body and spirit connection. Matthew also loved animals and rescued many of his pets.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matthew's name to the Stray Hearts animal shelter or the Harrison Children's educational fund @ the NM Educator's Credit Union.
