Maurice Andrew Ezell, 89, of Santa Fe, died peacefully at home on March 5, 2022. Born in Wimberley, Texas on July 7, 1932, he was the eldest son of Lester Ezell and Dora Egger. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, and his brother Charles Ezell. He is survived by his sister Alleene Martin of Overland Park, Kansas, his half-sister Nonnie Ezell Nutting of Austin, Texas, and multiple nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Maurice met his beloved wife of 65 years, Dorothy Wesley Ezell, in high school in Texas and they married while he proudly served in the Marines for 4 years. His service in the military formed the basis of a strong and notable work ethic that he carried though out his life. Then, he went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Maurice and Dorothy spent their early years together in California and Arizona and settled in New Mexico in 1960, where they created their inseparable life together, working side by side in their accounting firm and on their ranch in Northern New Mexico. Maurice was one of a kind, and a treasure trove of advice, hard work, whimsical stories, good humor, and knowledge of everything accounting and ranching. He was loved by many and will be missed. His family would like to thank his private caregiver Maria, the caregivers from Elite Home Care and the services of Good Samaritan Hospice, as well as Kathy, Janet, and Poncho for bringing clarity, comfort, and joy at the end of his life. Maurice and Dorothy will be interred together at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico and memorial services will be held at a later date.
