Michael "Mikie" Velarde

Michael “Mikie” Velarde, Jr., Age 39, from Talpa was welcomed home to the kingdom of our Lord and Savior on February 17, 2022.  Mikie’s passions included his children, his relationship with his mother and step father, his sister, Ari and brother, Shawn, hunting, fishing and cooking BBQ. Mikie obtained a degree in refrigeration and air conditioning from Universal Technical Institute and enjoyed tinkering with anything and everything he could get his hands on. Mikie is preceded in death by his daughter, Miquela, sister, Ernestine, grandparents, Ernest and Carmen Velarde, Flavio and Anita Abeyta, Bences and Corina Maestas, uncles, Joe and Lalo Abeyta, Billy Trujillo and Trini Velarde, aunts, Lisa Martinez, Zandra Velarde  and Audrey Abeyta.  He is survived by his parents, Michelle and Moises Maestas, Michael and Maria Velarde,  children, Angelique, Michael III, Alexiana “Honey” and Eunique, sisters, Julie Velarde, Ari Maestas and Tanya Maestas (Josh), brothers, Mark Velarde, Shawn and Dominic Maestas (Carla), aunts and uncles, Ruben Abeyta (Nanette), Pat Abeyta (Linda), Lorraine Abeyta, Eddie Abeyta (Cora), Flavio Abeyta (Tommie), Ida McCabe, Roberta Martinez (Arturo), Stella Trujillo (James), Sarah Tafoya (Orlando), Juan Velarde (Nami) and Alex Velarde, Maestas family, many other relatives and friends.

Rosay will be recited on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 9 AM with funeral mass to follow at 10 AM at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church.
