Michael E. Tindall (Mike) passed away peacefully Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the
Espanola Presbyterian Hospital in New Mexico, after a brief illness and surrounded by family and friends. Mike was born in Monticello, Arkansas, to parents Harry and Kathleen Horn Tindall, who preceded him in death. Mike was 77 years old.
Mike graduated from Lakeside High School in Lake Village, Arkansas, and attended Arkansas Tech University. He served honorably as an MP in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Part of his military service was spent at Sandia Base in New Mexico, and it was during this time he became captivated by the beauty of the state. After several years with Herwig Lighting in Pottsville, Arkansas, and owning an art gallery in Hot Springs, Arkansas, he returned to New Mexico. Mike loved nature and the outdoors. After retirement he spent summers on a mountain in northern New Mexico and winters in warmer spots in the southern part of the state in his home on wheels, an Airstream Argosy travel trailer.
Mike was a student throughout his life, always investigating new things and he had an aptitude for anything that interested him. In recent years he studied jewelry making and created beautiful pieces in the Southwest style.
He is survived by his sister Sandra Tindall of Little Rock, AR, his brother Stephen Tindall (Jocelyn Colquhoun) of Madison, NJ, his son Eric Tindall (Dawn) of Coppell, TX and Eric's mother Sara Grimes of Cabot, AR, granddaughters Morgan and Rachel Tindall, and friends Edwin, Phyllis, and Shania Gurule of Tres Piedras who were his New Mexico family.
A private celebration of Mike's life will be held in New Mexico at a future date.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Sierra Club.
Rivera of Espanola is honored to assist and encourages messages, stories, and pictures for the Tindall family to be gathered on Michael's memorial tribute page below.
