With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michelle Janice Armijo Wright, who left this world on April 17, 2025, after struggling with a long-term illness. She passed peacefully in Albuquerque, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 24, 1983, Michelle brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone she met. She was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend—a woman whose sharp wit, generous heart, and joyful spirit left an indelible mark on the world around her.
Michelle had a clever sense of humor—a gift she inherited from her father—and could always be counted on to crack a joke, lighten the mood, or make someone laugh when they needed it most. She was a fiercely loyal friend, someone who showed up wholeheartedly and loved without hesitation.
She had a deep love for the holidays—Halloween being her favorite. Every year, she wowed her friends and family with unforgettable costumes and creative ideas. Just as joyfully, she adored Christmas, starting her shopping in the spring and transforming her guest room into a year-round gift-wrapping haven. She also had an unwavering love for her favorite sports teams—the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Braves—and could often be found cheering them on with pride and passion.
Her greatest joy was her daughter, Arabella Flores of Santa Fe, who carries forward her mother’s warmth, imagination, and strength. Michelle is also survived by her loving husband, Scott Wright of Santa Fe; her stepdaughter, Shiloh Wright; her parents, Lawrence and Margaret Armijo of Santa Fe; and her three sisters: Kara Sandoval and husband Donald Sandoval of Rio Rancho, and their daughters Jenna, Kaleigh, Maya, and Carolyn; Corrine Salinas and husband Gabe Salinas of Portland, Oregon, and their daughter Natalia; and Annette Armijo of Santa Fe, along with her beloved fur baby, Cowboy.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Courtney Razon and husband Jarrett Razon, and their daughter Finley Razon; her loving in-laws, Dan and Trish Wright of Santa Fe; and many dear friends and extended family who will continue to honor her memory.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Miguel Madrid and Natalia C. de Baca Madrid; her paternal grandparents, Joseph “Mayo” Armijo and Corrine Romero Armijo of Las Vegas, NM; her paternal uncle, John “Tinker” Armijo; and her dear friend, James Merrill of Santa Fe.
Michelle’s laughter, fierce loyalty, and unwavering love for her family will be forever cherished. Though her absence is immeasurable, so is the love she leaves behind.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 12, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
