Miguel A. Mares

Miguel A. Mares, was born on September 29th, 1916 in Buena Vista, New Mexico and was a resident of La Mesilla for the past 19 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Georgia Mares; a daughter, Dolores Benavidez; mother, Santitos; father, Jose Leon Mares; and six brothers and two sisters. May their souls rest in peace. He is survived by his sons: Mike Mares, Jr. and wife Margaret of Pueblo, CO, Roy Mares and wife Gladys of Buena Vista, NM; a grandson whom he raised, Wil Mares and wife Gidget of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Lydia and husband Robert Lopez of Española, ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; four sisters; two brothers; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A wake and rosary will be held on Sunday, June 11th, 2006 in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 12th, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Gertrudes Catholic Church in Mora. Burial will follow at the Buena Vista family Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Mike Mares, III, Mark Mares, Gary Gonzales, Vicente Trujillo, Martin Sanchez and Tomas Lopez. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Wil Mares, Michael Gonzales, John Tyler, Franchesco Valdez, Jake Baros, Ramona Chavez, Thomas Sanchez, Jr., Roy Dean Mares and Paul A. Mares.
