A life well lived. It is with great personal sadness that we announce the passing of M. Jane Engel on Friday March 10th. From a child growing up in worn-torn Great Britain, to a global citizen who lived and traveled freely over 5 continents until finally settling in Taos just over 25 years ago. Jane leaves behind a legacy of friends and family including 2 siblings, 3 children, 5 grand-children, a great grand-daughter, a foster daughter and a God-daughter. Jane was generous of spirit and time and a seemingly life-long resident of Taos, from working on the old Horsefly to volunteering at the TCA, Jane loved Taos. An ardent supporter of the Arts and Music, particularly Jazz, blues and dance. She also loved nature and hiking, and had ranged from the Camino in Spain, to the Taos River Gorge with Scotland and New Zealand crammed somewhere in between. After a long illness, Jane chose to leave this world and continue her journey home on her own terms, and after nearly 91 years, I can only quote Garth Brooks by Saying. "Good Ride Cowboy! Good Ride!". At Jane's request there will be no formal remembrance service, but she did ask that if you are so inclined (or more likely seated) to raise and enjoy a Margarita in her honor. Cheers to the Great Beyond.
