Moises L. Ortega, 85, passed away on March 22, 2020.
He was born and raised in Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico where he attended elementary school and eventually graduated from Taos High School. When Moises was 17 years of age he joined the Air Force and attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. After graduating college, he went to work for the Federal Bureau of Indian affairs. After retirement from civil service, he worked for the Taos Municipal Schools driving school buses, where he then retired after 20 years of service.
Moises will be missed by many and remembered for his beautiful and positive personality. His greatest joy was being around people and especially his loved ones who loved to be around him as well.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Ortega and Gregorita Rael Ortega, His first wife Isabel Martinez Ortega, son, Miguel Ortega and brothers, Donaldo and Sophio Ortega
Moises is survived by his wife, Constancia (Connie) Ortega, his daughters, Mercedes (Joe) Valdez, Karen (David) Mascarenas-Rotunno, and Gary Mascarenas as well as grandchildren, Joshua Valdez, Christa Valdez, Marisa Valdez, and great-grandchildren Jaiya, and Elias. Moises is also survived by one sister, Belinda (Gilbert) Archuleta, five brothers, Noberto (Flora) Ortega, Samuel (Alma) Ortega, Leonardo (Karen) Ortega, Carlos Ortega and Enoch Ortega, sister-in-laws, Yoko Ortega and Florence Ortega as well as many other loved family members.
A Rosary will take place at 10am Friday August 21,2020 with Mass to follow at 10:30AM at Santa Maria De La Paz Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1PM.
