On Sunday, January 22, 2012, Morgan DeVol Jones passed on to his next chapter, he was 79 years old. Born on March 18, 1932 to Paul DeVol Jones and Cordelia Jones in Evanston Illinois, Morgan led a full life and touched many on his journey. He was a 1954 graduate of the University of Illinois with a major in Economics. Morgan enlisted in the Army where he studied at the Army Language School and became fluent in Greek and Russian. Morgan became an undercover case officer for the CIA in Europe and later in his career he would become one of the top military CIA analysts of the Cold War. Morgan and Rita, his wife of 48 yrs, built their family in Northern Virginia where they lived for many years. Morgan was a man of logic, artistic with writing and music and a constant spiritual seeker. He was an accomplished author having four of his works published and a talented musician. He came to Santa Fe in February of 2008 to live near his daughter and grandsons and felt blessed to have his community of support at El Castillo. He was a good husband to Rita Lenzini Jones, who passed in July of 2008, and an extraordinary father to Stephanie Jones Duran and Christopher Jones and his wife, Susan. Morgan leaves behind 4 incredible grandchildren: Noah, Adam, Nate and Katie. There are no words to describe the loss felt by those who loved this funny, articulate and deep man. He will be missed every day.
A celebration of his life was held on January 27, 2012 at El Castillo, in Santa Fe.
