Nan Shryock Boylan passed away Monday, January 12, 2009. She was born June 21, 1921, the daughter of Robert Arnold Shryock and Sara Campbell Shryock, in Elyria, Ohio. Her education began at Lake Avenue School and then continued her education at McKinley School and Elyria High School where she graduated in 1939. On a scholarship she attended Flora Stone Mather College of Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated in 1943. She did graduate work in music at the University of New Mexico in 1946 and also studied at the college of Law there from 1958 to 1960.
In 1942 she married her high school sweetheart, John Lewis Boylan, who was a medic in the U.S. Army. He passed away February 18, 2001. She spent her life helping him in his career as an artist.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Arnold Shryock Jr. of Lakewood, Colorado, and by three nieces and their children.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 2:30pm at El Castillo Retirement Home.
