Nancy Jean Leinneweber passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 in Angel Fire, New Mexico with her loving husband Martin Leinneweber, cat (Bogey), and dog (Tucker) by her side. She was 74 years of age when she went to be with the Lord.
She was born in Decatur, Illinois May 30, 1949 to Herbert and Phyllis Goers. Nancy graduated college and received her Bachelors of Science and shortly after her Texas Physical Therapist License. In her earlier years after college Nancy was a successful Physical Therapist in Lewisville, Texas who shared an outpatient Sports Medicine Clinic with Dr. Richard Williamson.
Nancy married her soul mate, Martin Leinneweber, on March 19, 1977. She and her husband loved to travel across the United States and Canada in their motorhome. They also loved to travel to Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean and would often share their stories of their adventures. Nancy was a free spirit that loved life, family, and nature. She enjoyed camping, snorkeling, diving, para sailing, sailing, playing golf and tennis and bird watching. When she and her husband were not off on an adventure, you could find them enjoying time relaxing at their beach lot in Port Aransas or at their beautiful home that Nancy designed in Angel Fire, New Mexico.
Nancy was a voracious reader and would often be found reading a novel while enjoying a glass of wine and God’s scenery. Her love for books and the lack of a library in Angel Fire, New Mexico prompted her to start a library in the small town. Over the years, this library has grown from a small closet outside of the fire station to a beautiful well-stocked structure today.
Besides reading, traveling, and her family, Nancy had a passion and love for all animals especially wildlife and her own dogs and cats. She and her husband have supported numerous humane societies and rescues in her lifetime.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis and father, Herbert Goers. She leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, Martin Leinneweber and fur children, Bogey (cat) and Tucker (dog), brother (Jim Goers), sister (Susie Heckman and Husband, Larry), sister-in-law (Margo Thorn and Husband, Kenneth) and Niece (Micia Thorn Mosley and husband, Jeremy).
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for donations to be made to the Angel Fire Library (Shuter Library) in New Mexico (www.shuterlibrary.net) or to Classy Cats Rescue in Roanoke, Texas (https://https://classycats.org)
