Mr. Narciso S. Rendón Jr, age 85, passed away peacefully at the family home in Chama on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. He had recently attended his granddaughter Jennifer Mattox Kings wedding in Kentucky. Narciso was born on September 7, 1926 to Ignacita Delgado and Narciso Rendón in Velarde, NM and married Porfiria Alcon on May 25, 1951. He is preceded in death by his wife, Porfiria Alcon and son Narciso (Narcie) Rendón, III. He is survived by his sons: Andrew Rendón (Gloria) of Rio Rancho, NM and Steve Rendón (Mary) of Chama, NM, daughters: Ignacita Mattox (Charles) of Paris, KY and Angela Vigil (Raymond) of Chama, NM, grandchildren: Rebecca Rendón Lozano (Arturo), Andres Rendón (Bonita), Abrahn Rendon (Allegra) David Emery, Brad Mattox, Justin Emery (Amanda), Joslyn Rendón, Jennifer Mattox, Esteban Rendón, Aaron Rendón and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Rendón was a member of the armed forces serving during the Korean War. He retired from the NORA Coop after 24 years of service. Previously, he had worked as a butcher for Jones Mercantile. He was a member of Knights of Columbus for many years. A private rosary was recited at the family home. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on July 2, 2012 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Chama, NM. In honor of Mr. Rendóns requests and his simple way of life, there was no public reception. In lieu of flowers or other donations, the family requests that contributions be made to the St. Patricks Catholic Church Building Fund. The family wishes to thank their friends, neighbors and family for all their kindness and prayers during Mr. Rendons final days.
