Nellie Maes

Nellie May Maes-Sanchez, 75, of Questa, New Mexico (formerly of Alamosa, Colorado) went to be with the lord October 22, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nellie was born July 2, 1942 in Las Animas, Colorado, to Leo and Jennie Sanchez. Nellie enjoyed gardening, yard work, crocheting and was an avid bingo player and gambler. Most of all, she loved spending her time with her loving family. She married Margarito "Buddy" Maes on July 10, 1993. Nellie was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion, as well as being a big part of the community. Survivors include her five children: Theresa Medina, Michelle Martinez (Emilia), Tony Martinez all of Questa, New Mexico, Jennie (William) Carter of Center, Colorado and Christina (Antwan) Johnson of Denver, Colorado, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother, Auggie (Martha) Sanchez of Thorto,n Colorado, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins. Nellie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Margarito "Buddy" Maes and her parents, Leo and Jennie Sanchez, brother, Marion "Leo" Sanchez and sister, Rose Davy.
