Nick F. Martinez

Nick F. Martinez, 78, of Valdez passed away on January 16, 2016. Nick loved to travel and his favorite places to visit were Fatima, Portugal and Vail, Colorado. He loved to fish including on his trips to Vail. He was a Board Member for Taos Municipal Schools and member of the Valdez Choir. Nick was a rancher until the time of his passing and was still tending to his sheep and cattle. He was the owner of Gon-Mar Department Store for 43 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Librado and Anita Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Maxine, children, Michael, Rosella (Kenneth), Bernadette (Lee), Joseph and Anthony, grandchildren, Daniel (Maribel), Isaac (Vanessa), Jacob, Vanessa (Robby), Taylor, Marlee, great-grandchildren, Azalia, Urijah, Makayla and Ivan, brother, Zeke Martinez, Gene Martinez (Pat), nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Rosary was recited on January 20, 2016. Funeral mass was held on January 21, 2016. Both were held at the Holy Trinity Church in Arroyo Seco with interment following at the Valdez Cemetery.
