Nicolas Andres Romero of Vadito, New Mexico passed away August 6, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born on June 19, 1941, to Victoriano and Elvira Romero.
Nicolas was a lifetime farmer and rancher. His garden was known for a large variety of vegetables, such as turnips, pumpkins, and corn. He raised world class chicos that the entire family enjoyed. Many times, throughout the years Nicolas entered his pumpkins in contests, and won the biggest pumpkin first place ribbon.
Nicolas was also rancher. He loved raising chickens, pigs, and rabbits. He loved being in the mountains and the beautiful New Mexico landscape. From the beautiful mountains of New Mexico, he made custom handmade furniture. On April 1, 1967, Nicolas married the love of his life, Bernice Garcia. He served two years in the army and fought in the Vietnam war.
He is survived by his wife Bernice Romero, children Elvira Romero, Mark Romero (Cathy), and Mario Romero, two grandchildren Nieves (Patrick McChesney), Juewel Romero (Michael Eletcher), siblings Mary Lou Romero, Bert Romero, Diana Romero, Gloria Martinez (Vigel), Jose Romero, Victoriano Romero (Virginia), Gerald Romero (Felíz), Lucelle Chávez (Rick), Janet Mancha (Peter García), Rudy Romero (Jenny), sister-in-law Maria Romero, brother-in-law Ernesto Montoya.
He is preceded in death by his mother Elvira M Romero, father Victoriano Romero, in-laws, Ismael and Anita García, many family members, and friends.
A service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 , at 11 AM at the Peñasco Valley Church of Christ, in Vadito New Mexico. Internment to follow at the Vadito Cemetery.
