Nina Stella Lora of Taos passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 22, after a brief illness, at age 95. She was born in Finland in 1920 to Finnish and Russian parents. She lived in France and Africa until immigrating to the U.S. in 1937. She married Eugene Lora in 1942, and they lived together until his death in 2000. She moved to Taos in 2005. She loved gardening, cooking, reading, music, the arts, and all things beautiful. She was a beautiful, compassionate, generous person, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. All who knew her appreciated her grace and sincerity.
She is survived by son Peter Lora (Amanda) of Taos, daughter Christine Whitaker (Charles) of Philadelphia, grandchildren Melanie Meltzer (Los Angeles), Nina Lora (Los Angeles), Hanna Whitaker (Philadelphia), and Ashley Lora (Nashville), and great grandchildren Luciana and Henrik Meltzer.
