Nobelena Pena

Nobelena Elena Pena,68, of Espanola NM. Passed away on October 16, 2023.  

 She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Guadalupe (Chavez) Pena, brothers, Raymond, Freddy, and Fillie.  

She is survived by her sisters, Lucy Sisneros and Viola Garcia, brother, George Pena, Sister-in-Laws, Helen and Mary Pena. Numerous nieces, nephews and her beloved best friend of 44 years and caregiver, Lenora Aguilar, who was there for her until her final passing. Other long time best friends, Kay Pacheco, Jo Ann Lucero, Kathy Berry Hill, Sam Martinez, and Diana Padilla. 

A special thanks to her niece Louisa Mares from Rio Rancho, NM, nephew and niece, Jimmy and Rachel Pena from San Antonio, TX, and niece, Mary Jane Pena-Lopez from Pojoaque, NM for all their emotional support and deep love. 

Shortly after her graduation from Portales High School in 1971, Nobelena moved to Espanola and became a lifelong resident. She loved her work and enjoyed working with children. Fishing, camping, and hanging out with her friends were her normal pass times. She loved attending family functions, graduations, weddings etc. She was a kind, loving, generous, thoughtful, and beautiful person. She had a heart of gold and will be missed dearly. 

She worked for the Espanola Public Schools for over 47 years. She retired and then went back to work for the schools part-time up until her passing. She was a very generous and kind person who always helped anyone in need. She gave numerous donations to numerous organizations.  

Special gratitude and appreciation to Ambercare Hospice for their loving care and support. 

Memorial service will be held November 08, 2023 at 11AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Reception Hall 908 W. Calle Rosario, Espanola, NM 87532.
