Mrs. Nora Segal, she 92, of Santa Fe, N.M., previously of New York City, died peacefully on November 6, 2021.She was surrounded by her loving family members, Demi Segal Watson, her daughter; Cheryl Straus-Witty, her niece; and Julian Marquez, her adopted son.She was preceded in death by her parents, Yetta Stern and Barnett Ginsberg, her sister, Ruth Ginsberg Straus, her brother-in-law, Murray Straus, and her nephew, Harlan Marc Straus.She was an active member and benefactor of the Jewish community and synagogues of Santa Fe. Nora was also a member of Haddasah and B’nai Brith. She gave generous support to local, national, and international charities devoted to human rights, animal rights, Jewish organizations, disaster relief and impoverished communities.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Demi and Fred Watson, her grandchildren, Gwen Apfelbaum and Alexander Watson; her niece and nephew, grandniece and great grandnephew, Cheryl and Stephen Witty, Nicole Witty and Benjamin Witty Coleman; her adopted son, Julian Marquez; and her cousin, Rosalyn Meyerwitz and her extended family.Nora was an adventurous, independent spirit who travelled the world. She loved to engage others in Yiddish or instruct them in Yiddish expressions and folklore. Everyone who knew her knew of her passion for bargain hunting; she collected souvenirs from her travels, and attended local religious and cultural events. She was a strong and constant support to the Chabbad community of Santa Fe as well as to the reformed congregation.Those who wish to donate in her name may do so by giving to local charities and Jewish synagogues and organizations.
