Norbert Ortega

Norbert Ortega, 80, of Questa passed away on October 13, 2007. He was the longtime owner of the Texaco gas station in Questa. He was Fire Chief for the Questa Volunteer Fire Dept. for 28 years and a four term City Councilman. He was instrumental in the incorporation of the Village of Questa. He is survived by his wife, Arabella Ortega, children, Benita Rael (Carlos) of Ranchos de Taos, Norby Avelar (Peter) of Socorro, David Ortega of Santa Fe, Maida Sanchez (John) of Anthony and Martha Medore (John) of Las Cruces. He is also survived by grandchildren, Anamarie Rael, Andrea Rael Lerner, Christopher Avelar, Jay Norbert Avelar, Xavier Sanchez, Juan Sanchez, Ryanne Medore, Isaac Medore, great grandsons, Dominic, Adrian and Michael, sisters Naomi Ortega, O.S.M., Mary Martinez, Elouise Duran (Damian), brother Nick Ortega (Martha), numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives. Rosary was recited on Monday, October 15, 2007 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Questa. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at St. Anthony Church, interment followed at San Pedro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be Mountain Home Health Care.
