Norma Cortez, of Eagle Nest New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2019. She was born in Clovis NM in 1930. She moved to Texas as a child and grew up in Lamasco. In 2003 she moved to Eagle Nest and spent many peaceful days surrounded by the beauty of the lake and the majesty of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains that she loved so much.
Norma loved to paint and dance, and sing karaoke. She also loved to travel, go hiking, and camping, and watch the hummingbirds in her backyard. She loved people and always had a smile on her face for everyone. Her smile could light up a room. And she loved to laugh.
She is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Barbee, her mother Agnes Barbee, her brother Billy Barbee, and her grandson Ethan Jenkins.
She is survived by her loving husband Roy Cortez, her sister Jerry Hardin, her brother Marion Barbee; her son Kelly Murray and his wife Fara, her daughter Sharon McClellan and husband Dan, her daughter April Jenkins and husband John; grandchildren Sean, Eric, Andrew, Beth, Jessica, Heather, Emily, Sam; great-grandchildren Nora, Jackson, Savannah, Maddie Claire, Austin, Annabelle, Violet, Charlotte, and many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
