Oliver John Holmes Sr.

Oliver J. Holmes Sr., lifelong resident of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2010. He was a US Army WWII Veteran, served in North Africa/Italy. He is a retired Auto Body and Paint Instructor at Santa Fe Vo-tech. He is preceded in death by his wife Toni P. Holmes, sons Oliver Holmes Jr. and Wilbert the 1st, grandson Jerome, sisters Martha Salazar, Tessie Trujillo, and Pauline Ortega, brother Raymond Holmes, and brothers-in-law Tony Salazar Sr. and Belarmino Trujillo. He is survived by his partner Trini Shelton, children: Gina and Mike Chavez, Leroy Holmes and Dora, Sueanne Holmes and partner Lindy Mendonca, Wilbert Holmes and Kathy, Ronell Holmes and Nellie, and Beverly Holmes-Martinez and John, grandchildren: Darlene. Serena, Kim, Melissa, Laura, Angelic, Tonie, Michelle, and 20 great-grandchildren, sister Clara Rael, brothers Tommy Holmes and Pauline, Ernest Holmes and Mary, Gilbert Homes, brother-in-law Adel Ortega, sisters-in-law Esco Holmes and Peggy Holmes and daughter-in-law Patsy Holmes. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on June 17, 2010 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
