ONESIMO MONTOYA
Church bells ring one more time for the tiny village of Galisteo.
Onesimo Montoya, 83, passed away at his home April 19, 2012. He was a very talented guitarist, carpenter, mechanic and much more. He owned and operated O.J.D. Construction for 14 years with his family and built many homes in Santa Fe and Galisteo areas. Before his illness, Onesimo was active in the community and his church. He enjoyed seeing his neighbors upon his daily walks with his son Ted.
Onesimo is preceded in death by his wife Mela C. Montoya and daughter Linda L Montoya; his parents Luis and Isabel Montoya; sister Damacia; brothers Sarapio, Hernandez, Juan, Carlos and Daniel.
He is survived by children: Geri (Ray) Pena, Jimmy (Audrey) Montoya, Anna (Freddie) Cardenas, David (Veronica) Montoya, Lisa (Orlando) Griego, Ted (Missy) Montoya, Angie Montoya, Priscilla (Angelo) Prada; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; in laws: Rosina and Joe Anaya, Mary Alice Anaya and Anne Montoya; nieces Isabel (David) Montoya and Yolanda Barberos of Santa Fe and nephew Rudy (Julia) Montoya of Embudo, Maria Montoya of Alb., and many more nieces, nephews and their children.
A rosary was recited on April 26, 2012. A funeral mass was celebrated on April 27, 2012. Both services were held at Nuestra Senora de los Remedios Church. A lunch followed at the Galisteo Community Center.
