Oralia Gonzales

ORALIA GONZALES Oralia Gonzales, 93, born January 24, 1925 in Lamy, NM, passed away at her Santa Fe home on Monday, April 9, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Rafaelita and Lucio Ortiz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Nicolas Gonzales; daughters, Teresa Arakawa and Dorothy Toney; sons, Charlie Gonzales, Nicolas Gonzales, Jr, Christopher Gonzales, and Johnnie Gonzales; her sisters, Delfinia Ortiz and Apolonia Ortiz; and brothers, Manuel Ortiz, Freddy Ortiz, and Antonio Ortiz. Oralia is survived by her two brothers, Reynaldo Ortiz and Lucio Andres Ortiz; her sisters, Cecilia (Terri) Gonzales and Paula Martinez; her daughters, Delfinia Gonzales, Lucy Salazar, Julia Castro, and Alicia Gonzales; and her son Charlie Gonzalez. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Oralia retired from NM State Government then worked as a teacher’s assistant and Foster Grandparent with the Santa Fe Public Schools. She was a member of the Sociedad Colonial Espanol de Santa Fe and participated in local productions of Los Pastores. She was a very religious person, praying a rosary daily. She loved to dance and had a great sense of humor and was very open minded. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Rivera Family Kiva Chapel, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, April 16, 2018 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Gabriel Gonzales, Leila Herrera, Nico Gonzales, Alma Castro, Tino Gonzales Sherwood, and Soledad Roybal. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Gonzalez and Rene Cacchi and all her grandchildren.
