Orlinda S. Gallegos, 88, of Cañones passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on May 20, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dalio Gallegos, her parents Sequello and Francisquita Salazar, her children Patrick, Cynthia, Johnny, Anthony “Tony”, her only brother Ben Salazar and son-in-law Johnny Velasquez. She is survived by her children Dennis (Mercedes) Gallegos, Amada (Richard) Vialpando, Toby (Rosemary) Gallegos, Debra (Edward) Sandoval, Cathy (Manuel) Serrano, Lorenzo Gallegos (Cecilia), daughter-in-law Frances Gallegos, 19 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 5 Godchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Orlinda retired after 30 years as a U.S. Postmistress of the Cañones Post Office. She attended the Coyote Senior Citizen Center where she enjoyed making quilts, embroidery, and ceramics. She was a devout Catholic praying her novenas and the rosary daily, as well as a dedicated member of La Sagrada Familia. Orlinda will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, however her faith in God will live on eternally through her influence. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22nd from 6:30-7:00 p.m. at St.Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, NM. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Canones, NM. Interment to follow at the San Miguel Catholic cemetery in Canones, NM.
