On Sunday, January 24, 2021, Oscar Arevalo passed away surrounded by his wife Teri, his son Jesse and wife Jarenda; son Jon; and daughter Janelle. Oscar was a very loving husband, father and grandfather to two extraordinary little boys Emilio and Elias.
Born in Austin, Texas, Oscar survived by his parents, Ralph and Susanna; older brother Ernest and wife Lucinda; younger sister Becky and husband Stephen Cortez; many loving nieces and nephews; cousins and friends.
Oscar made his home in Santa Fe in 1988, where he explored the seminary, studied religion, and earned his BA in Psychology and MBA in Finance from the College of Santa Fe. He started working at the Administrative Office of the Courts in 1993 and retired in 2017. Oscar served on the PERA Board from 2007 through 2011.
Oscar’s hobbies included bike riding, competing in several cycling centuries, triathlons, half-marathons, and golfing with his friends and family. He spent his extra time involved in men’s ministries, youth ministries, and experiencing mission trips. Oscar enjoyed sharing laughs and creating memorable moments with those around him. No words can describe or express how much Oscar will be missed.
