Patricia (Patty) Anaya, 59, went home after a long and courageous battle with cancer on June 4, 2016.
Patty is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Nina Sandoval, brother Raymond III, and brother-in-law Michael Anaya. She is survived by the love of her life: Jimmy Anaya, loving granddaughter: Dawn Rae Anaya, beloved children: James and Yvette (Steven) Anaya, sisters: Terri Mares (Louie), Pauline Mares (Albert) and brothers: Phillip Sandoval, Stephen Fresquez (Marcie), nieces: Bernadette Mares, Zoe Mares, Morgan Fresquez, nephews: Richard Mares, Abel and Vincent Fresquez, great-aunt: Olivama Fresquez, special friend Bubba Paige, her worshipped Dog Chiwa, and many, many family and friends.
Patty was the most vivacious and sociable spirit. She was often called “The life of the party.” She had an infectious laugh. The moment she walked into a room, she could have anyone laughing often forgetting any of the day’s troubles. She believed laughter was a cure all. Patty had such an optimistic outlook on life. She used to always say, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Patty truly believed that life was a gift, one in which you should not squander away. For over two years, she bravely fought to live. She never once gave into the pain and she fought on like the warrior she always was. She used to say, “When I am gone, remember every time you see a butterfly know that is me!” She has taken on a different form, and she is no longer a prisoner of her body. Her memory will forever be cherished by all those whose lives she touched.
