Patricia Cross

October 12, 1952 — February 14, 2023

Patricia “Patsy” Anne Cross passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on February 14th 2023. Patsy was born on October 12, 1952, in Santa Fe, NM to Ernestine and Robert Babcock. She was the second of eight children. Patsy grew up on Apodaca Hill and attended Cristo Rey Catholic School amongst siblings, cousins and friends who remember her many adventures filled with laughter, silliness and a little bit of mischief.  Later, she worked at the Palace Restaurant where she met the love of her life, Jerry Cross. They married in 1974 and went on to have two beautiful children. They later moved to Española to raise their family. There, Pasty worked at Anthony’s at the Delta Flower Shop and attended Northern New Mexico Community College, where she graduated with a degree in accounting in 1994. She inspired others to further their education. After graduating, she worked for the Pueblo of Pojoaque Casinos for many years.  Patsy was very creative and enjoyed creating beautiful arts and crafts- to include floral arrangements and stained glass. She and her husband worked tirelessly to make cakes for family gatherings and special occasions- as well as countless cookies and tamales for Christmas. She was extremely caring and generous. Everyone who visited Patsy always felt “at home.” Even in her final moments, she wanted to ensure that everyone was well fed and comfortable. She had the best sense of humor and loved to laugh. She cared deeply for people and always made sure that everyone was included, felt special and loved. Most importantly though, she was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and was looking forward to becoming a great-grandmother in the coming months. Our beloved Patsy will be sorely missed but will live on in our memories and hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Cross Jr. (Jer Jer); parents, Robert and Ernestine Babcock;  brother, William Babcock and nephew, Gilbert Quintana.  She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Jerry Cross; daughter, Joyce Gamble; Grandchildren- Kara Hope Gamble and husband, Manuel Guerra, Joey Cross, Aaron Cross, and Gabby Cross; Siblings- Cathy Quintana; Roberta Garcia and husband, Tommy; Evelyn Quintana and husband, Ron; Ruth Muller and husband, Philippe; Angela Gomez and husband, Saul; Paul Babcock and wife, Katerina; Godchildren- Rebecca Quintana, Tomas Garcia and Anita Babcock; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
