A teacher, A mother, and A grandma too, this is the legacy we have from you.

Patricia L. (Sanchez-Peralta) Kaufman, a lifelong resident of Alcalde, New Mexico passed away peacefully on March 8th, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Patricia was surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, and four grandchildren whom she cherished deeply. 

Patricia was proceeded in death by her father whom she loved dearly, Daniel C. Sanchez, her beautiful and intelligent older sister, Linda N. Smith, sister-in-law Annie G. Seugra, and querido companero Emilio E. Gonzales. 

She is survived by her dear mother, Margarita S. Sanchez, her only child Daniella M. Peralta, son-in-law Jermaine Hart, and their four children; Taya, Thalia, Zane & Zander, Lorie Gallegos who she cherished like a daughter, former spouse Orlando "Datto" Peralta. As well as siblings, Freddie (Annie) Segura, Carlos (Toni) Segura, and Daniel C. (Hortensia) Sanchez II, ahijado Daniel C. Sanchez III, ahijada Ana M. Peralta, seven nieces, four nephews, two great-nephews whom she raised as grandchildren, Terrence J. Sanchez, and Daniel C. Sanchez IV, great-niece, Maria Pacheco, and many special cousins and friends. 

Patricia was born on May 2nd, 1943 in Alcalde, New Mexico to parents Daniel & Margarita Sanchez. She attended Alcalde Elementary and McCurdy Methodist until 1960 when she graduated and went on to attend university at the College of Emporia in Kansas. In 1966, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education and became a teacher in New Mexico where she proudly served the students of Northern New Mexico for 39 years. Ms. Kaufman was recognized by Who's Who in American Education in the late 1980's by former staff and students. She was an amazing and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and educator who always had a smile on her face, whether it was by cracking jokes, watching her beloved Golden State Warriors, or spending time with her grandchildren sharing life's wisdom.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family and always remembered in their hearts.

The family of Patricia would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the many friends who have given them support and comfort during this time of loss. They would especially like to thank the Lucero family of Santa Clara, the Chavez family of El Guique, Olga and Miguel of Hernandez, Pam Martinez of Edgewood, Elaine Garcia of Alcalde, Brandy Archuleta of Alcalde, Jake and Leslie Montoya of Los Luceros and the Brighton Home Hospice. 

Services for Patricia will be held on July 8th 2023 at 10:00am in Alcalde, NM at the Alcalde United Methodist Church.
