Patricia Marie Adams

April 22, 1931 — October 10, 2017

Patricia Harrigan Adams 4/22/1931 to 10/10/2017 Pat passed away in her home at Quail Run in Santa Fe, NM following a long illness. Pat’s son Brian and her dog Rocky were with her at the time. Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to AmberCare Hospice staff and the caregivers for their professional and compassionate care in the last 7 weeks of her life. Born in Chicago, IL., Patricia attended Taft HS and Marquette University. In Chicago, Pat embarked on a modeling career. Married in 1951, Pat raised four children in Park Ridge and Evanston, IL. During this time, Pat continued modeling for Saks Fifth Avenue. In 1972, Pat purchased a one room rock schoolhouse in NW IL which led to 7 years of renovation. It was ultimately featured on the cover of Country Homes & Living. Never one to brag, Pat was successful in her business endeavors. A tireless worker, she did her research, asked the right questions and found wonderful mentors along the way. After acquiring a farm, she engaged with the local SWCD to create a conservation plan which included installation of terraces and best farming practices. In 1985, the farm won the Best Conservation Farm in the county. During this time, Pat continued to grow an antique furniture business and exhibited at many antique shows throughout the country. Pat later switched to antique jewelry after taking courses at Sotheby's in London. True to form, Pat became a preeminent dealer in fine antique jewelry; a business she continued until recently. After relocating to Santa Fe, NM in 1992, Pat was involved with St. John’s College, served on Quail Run’s Covenants Committee and freely volunteered her time for many causes. A lifelong learner, no day was complete without reading the New York Times cover to cover; applying current events to course work at St. John’s College. Pat enjoyed the ladies of her book club as well. Pat was kind, loving and cared about all people. She had the ability to see people for who they are, and love them for who they are without judgment. Pats’ many friends in Chicago and Santa Fe will miss her sense of humor, warmth, wisdom and grace. Preceded in death by Isabelle and Robert Harrigan (Parents), Vincent DePaul Garrity Jr. (Son), Mary Frances Catanach (Daughter), and Jasmine (her dog of 14 years). Pat is survived by Betty Roche (Sister), Brian Adams (Son), Sheila and David Dolkart (Daughter and Son-in-law), Jean Garrity (Daughter-in-law), Sarah Garrity and Molly Dolkart (Granddaughters), Matthew Dolkart (Grandson). Pat Abate (Niece) and Tom and Bob Johnson (Nephews). And, the Harburg Family children (Ben, Daniel and Emily) who she felt like they were her own grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 AM on October 27th at St Anne Parish 511 Alicia St Santa Fe, NM 87501. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Elizabeth Shelters http://www.steshelter.org/donate
