Our most beloved husband and father, Paul A. Armijo, affectionately known as “Big Bear,” passed away on November 4, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Armijo, father, Alfred (Luke) Armijo, and parents-in-law, Joe and Nora Ortega.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Carla Armijo (Ortega), son, Matthew Armijo, brother, Mickey Armijo (Robbi), aunt, Barbara Morales, and uncles, Robert Armijo (Nancy) and Sonny Martinez. Paul is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul was a Professional Land Surveyor for 25 years. He and Carla owned a land surveying firm, Armijo Surveys, Inc., where they loved working and laughing together every day as a team. They built their business together for the past 24 years. Paul was a proud Santa Fe Demon (Class of ’76) and was selected to play in the North South All-Star football game his senior year. Paul enjoyed science fiction, attending airshows, the Denver Broncos, and drawing cartoons for his family and friends.
Paul was a gift. He was a good man who loved the Lord, his wife Carla and his son Matthew. Paul said that his best day on earth was his wedding to Carla, and the second-best day was the birth of Matthew. Paul loved, and was loved by, his family, friends, and employees, each of whom knew Paul as a kind, reliable and generous man.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 10 a.m., at Rivera’s Kiva Chapel of Light (417 East Rodeo Rd., Santa Fe, NM).
