Paul LeRoy Garcia, 71, peacefully passed away August 4, 2007 after a long illness.
Born in Embudo August 17, 1935 and a life-long resident of Taos, he graduated from Menaul High School in 1953 and UNM in 1959 with a B.A. in accounting.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Taos where he served as Treasurer and Elder. He served his country for many years on the Selective Service Board and his special concern and service given to improve the quality of life for New Mexicans through his membership in the Kiwanis Club, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served as president of the Taos County Chamber of Commerce, and was active in civic and community affairs.
He worked in his father's business, North Pueblo Home Supply founded in 1952, and then as administrator of Holy Cross Hospital prior to opening Paul's Clothes for Men and Garcia Tax Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rumaldo M. and Teodorita Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Garcia, four children, Yvonne Castillo (Daniel), Andy Garcia, Rumaldo Garcia III (Erma), Paula Garcia, eight step-children, Debra de la Torre (Luis), Diane Seiler, Steven Seiler (Karen), Kevin Seiler (Robin), Floyd Ayala, David Ayala, Anthony Ayala, and Barbara Bush, grandchildren Phyllis, Tabitha, Valerie, Gabriel, Matthew, and Michael, five great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who loved him very much and five aunts, Rose Martinez, Lucia Arellano, Viola Wilson, Frances Chaconand Connie Pacheco.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 07, 2007 at 6 PM at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 08, 2007 at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Taos. Memorial contributions may be sent to Menaul School in Albuquerque and the Kiwanis Club of Taos
