Paul Kamprath, age 58, died March 1st of a cardiac event. He was born in Austin, TX, attended Austin High School and the University of Texas. He worked with the Texas Legislature for approximately 25 years, as a proof reader, legislative aide, and chief of staff before moving to Taos. He was a substitute teacher for eight years in the Taos Municipal Schools, being “Mr. Paul” to kindergarteners to high schoolers. He remained interested in politics and was a voracious reader, book collector and cat lover. His friends described him as witty, excellent conversationalist and debater. He is survived by his mother, Suzanne Schutze, in Taos, brothers, Michael and Jeffrey (Tracy) Kamprath, sister, Christa (Chasz) Parker, stepbrothers, Ken (Carolyn), Gary (Amelia), Lee Schutze, stepsister, Sandra (Benito) Meschoulam, numerous nieces and nephews and a large cousin extended family. He was predeceased by his step-father, C. A. Schutze, Jr., Stephen Schutze and son, Ryan and Laurie (Lee) Schutze.
A Celebration of his life is planned for Summer in Texas.
