Paul Leo Austing

Paul Leo Austing, 59, of Taos passed away on December 22, 2008. He was born on July 3, 1949 in Hamilton, Ohio. He graduated from Badin High School in 1969. He also attended Milwaukee Technical College receiving an applied science degree of the Culinary Arts in 1972. Paul is survived by his wife, Linda, sister, Celine Burke (Dick), brothers, John (Margie), Don (Sue), nieces and nephews, Mark Burke, Angie, Nancy, Brian, Michelle, John and Jenny. Paul built, owned and operated the largest and tallest timber frame hotel in the United States. The Austing Haus hotel is located in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico. He also built the Columbine Inn, another timber frame hotel in the Taos Ski Valley. Pauls culinary skills took him to seven different countries. He served as a council member of the Village of Taos Ski Valley for four years. Memorial service was held on January 6, 2009 at St. James Episcopal Chruch in Taos. A gathering followed at the St. James Parish Hall.
