Obituary for Peggy Love Day
Peggy Love Day died peacefully in her home in Santa Fe, NM on June 8, 2021. She was a dedicated member of the Santa Fe Garden Club, and actively involved with the Santa Fe Opera and The Church of the Holy Faith. Peggy was a beloved stepmother, godmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was devoted to her family. She loved to travel and garden and entertain. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Peggy was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., the youngest daughter of Charles and Myrtle Love. She attended Mary Washington College and Lees-McRae College. She began her career in advertising working for Burlington Industries in Greensboro, N.C. She moved to New York City in 1959 where she met and married Warren Day, her husband of 35 years. Warren was an international executive and together they traveled the world. In 1991, they moved from Bronxville, NY to Santa Fe.
Peggy is survived by her stepdaughters, Kristin Day St. Clair and Johanna Day Anderson, by her grandchildren Hayley Kidd, Christian Kidd, Stirling Kidd, Nicholas Webb, Max Crawford, and Morgan Crawford, by 7 great-grandchildren, and by her nieces and nephews, Kitty Lumpkin, Tom & Vicki Lumpkin, and Dan Rambo.
A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Holy Faith in Santa Fe, Friday, June 18th at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Elizabeth’s Homeless Shelter in Santa Fe.
