Passed away on June 5th, 2021, due to complications of Marfan Syndrome.  She leaves behind her wife Angela “Spence” Pacheco, her children Joseph Pacheco-Tassett of Durango, CO and Cheyenne Pacheco-Tassett of Albuquerque.  In addition Peggy is survived by brothers Greg Tasset (Bev) and Russell Tassett and sister Chris Tasset Schrempp, as well as many nieces and nephews including great nieces and nephews, cousins and a GAGGLE of friends.  Peggy is predeceased by her father Marcellus Tassett, mother Eileen Schmidt Tassett, sisters Jeanne Heiland Tassett, and Nancy Roe Tassett, brother Jim Tasset and niece Lisa Heiland.

Peggy grew up on a farm and in a small town in Kansas where she first learned her love of the earth.  Upon completing 8th grade Peggy was fortunate in being able to attend a private boarding school in Great Bend, KS.  It was there that Peggy was further encouraged to dedicate her life to be of service to others.  Upon graduating Peggy attended Washburn University in Topeka, KS where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree. She then went on and obtained her MSW from Kansas University.  Peggy was known as a rabid Kansas Jayhawks fan.  In 1980, Peggy relocated to Santa Fe where she spent the next 33 years working in the mental health field.  For Peggy, it was important that she enhance her therapeutic style with alternative energy practices.  Throughout Peggy’s life, her spirituality was found in the outdoors.  She backpacked, skied, climbed mountains and cherished her time camping with friends and family.  Although not religious, Peggy’s spirituality was acted out in her everyday life where kindness and love to others became her cornerstone.

As per Peggy’s wishes she has been cremated and a celebration of her life will be held on July 4th (her 70th birthday) at the Kiva Chapel of Light (Rivera Funeral Home) 417 East Rodeo Road in Santa Fe at 12:00 pm.  Contributions in Peggy’s name may be made to the Marfan Foundation or to the World Wildlife Fund.
