Penelope Gregory, 1945-2020, died in Taos, New Mexico, November 1, 2020 asthe result of a one vehicle car accident. The owner of AAA Homecare, andresident of Taos, she will be buried in Detroit Lakes, MN. in a private family service. Penny’s family will host a Taos Celebration of Life with friends in Taos in the future, observing Department of Health guidelinesfor social gatherings.                       

 

Born in Omaha, Nebraska to George and Lenore (Eck) Gregory, Penny was raised in Mound, MN and Detroit Lakes, MN. She is a 1963 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from Moorhead State University, a Master’s Degree graduate in Humanities from North Dakota State University and was a former Classical Pianist with the Houston Texas Symphony. In her lifetime, Penny taught elementary school in Arizona at the Navajo Nation, worked for American Standard Oil in Houston,TX., an Oil Rig in the Gulf of Mexico, created a Houston, TX. Piano Studio,and worked with corporate entities specializing in Elder and Geriatric Care. She was an accomplished swimming athlete, water ski performer, and an avid conservation outdoors woman. Penny shot her first mallard duck on Big   Detroit Lake hunting with her father in the Fall of her sixth grade.She and her former husband, Larry Rysavy, traveled extensively and shared many worldwide hunting trips. She was a dedicated Christian and lived herlife in service and care for many friends. Penny is survived by her sister;Pamela Gregory, Frazee, MN., niece; Jami (Rick) Day, nephews; Jonathon Gregory and Jeffrey Gregory and cousin; Carol Stearman. She was preceded indeath by her parents and nephew David Schram.
