PETE M. ARMIJO, JR.Pete M. Armijo, Jr, 64, life long resident of Santa Fe, passed with his family at his side on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from complications of liver and kidney disease. Pete fought a long and valiant battle to survive these debilitating conditions, including dialysis for the past five years. He was born at Fort Sill, OK on October 30, 1951, the son of Juanita Montoya Armijo and Pete M. Armijo, Sr. He was raised and schooled in Santa Fe, graduating from Santa Fe High School in 1970. Following graduation he worked for a time for Montgomery Wards. He later worked for PNM Water Division for many years, retiring as the city obtained operation of the water company. Pete will be remembered as being a gifted artist and has earned awards as a Master Model Builder, was a member of the International Plastic Modelers Society/ Albuquerque Chapter. He was a strong supporter of the Bataan Death March Survivors Organization. His father was a Bataan survivor and spent the remainder of the war as a POW in Japan. Pete had a great fondness for cats.He is survived by his brother, Paul Armijo and wife Sandra; sister, Mary Armijo y Clifford and husband Bob; numerous cousins, and his cat Cosmos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Pete Armijo; and his grandmother, Eulogia (Ella) Montoya.Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Rivera Family Kiva Chapel, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Rodeo Rd. Pallbearers will include Paul Armijo, Michael Anaya, Domingo Martinez, Robert Torres, Dennis Gutierrez, and Jerry Martinez. Peter’s family is requesting memorial contributions be offered in his name to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter, 100 Caja de Rio Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87507.
