Peter Clare Lindahl of Los Alamos, New Mexico passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the age of 79. After several months of declining health, Pete died peacefully with his beloved wife Mary Ann Lindahl by his side.
Pete was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 14, 1941. He was raised in Ingleside, Illinois and graduated from Grant High School in 1959. He received his bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest University and a doctorate degree in analytical chemistry from Southern Illinois University. He worked for Perkin Elmer, ExxonMobile, Argonne National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He was a part of the Department of Energy’s Tiger Team for Facility Safety.
Pete will be remembered for his witty one liners “It’s a lovely day in LA!” and his passion for Corvettes. In 2019 the National Corvette Restorers Society presented him with the President’s Award. When he wasn’t in his “Parts Departments”, he was chatting with neighbors, taking a drive through the mountains or having a beer at the Bathtub Row Beer Co-Op.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Lindahl and Olga Chodl Lindahl. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Lindahl; sister and brothers, April Lindahl Kendall, Paul Lindahl and Clarence (Mike) Lindahl; children Kirsten Lindahl Rencher, Kara Lindahl and Eric Lindahl; grandchildren Rory Rencher and Matias Rencher.
A celebration of life for Pete is planned for Sunday, August 29, 2021, from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Bathtub Row Brewing Co-Op on 163 Central Park Square, Los Alamos, New Mexico. All are invited to attend.
Peter will be buried at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos, NM. The Lindahl family has entrusted the gentle care of Peter to Rivera Family Funeral Home of Los Alamos. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.riverafamilyfuneralhome.com
