Peter Looms of Taos, NM, formerly of Vail, CO, and Denver, CO, passed away on Sunday, January 3rd, after a short illness. He was 88. Born in Denver, CO, in February of 1927, to Laura Doub Looms and the late George Looms, he attended East High School, the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Colorado at Boulder, earning a degree in Architectural Engineering in 1951. He practiced architecture in Denver, Vail and Taos for over 50 years. Among his notable projects were the Park Mayfair Apartments and the Larimer Square historical renovation in Denver, the Sandstone 70 and Bighorn residential developments and Golf Course Clubhouse in Vail. He was an avid skier and an ardent fan of the Denver Broncos and the Chicago Cubs. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sally Black Looms, daughters Nancy Looms Ayres and Sara Looms Fitch, son George Looms, sons in law Don Ayres and Bob Fitch, grandson Peter Fitch and Yellow Lab Louie. He was preceded in death by his sister Katie Kelley and numerous beloved dogs. His ashes will be distributed near Kenosha Pass in South Park, one of his favorite places in Colorado. Donations in his memory may be made to your local animal rescue organization or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home.
